A statement of purpose
- Two to three pages, double-spaced.
- Outlining your creative/academic and professional background, goals and what you hope to gain from the program.
Protfolio
Your portfolio will give us an overview of your artistic background and should contain relevant creative works.
Here are the recommendations when compiling your portfolio:
| Film Directing | 1) a short film directed by applicant – preferably feature or documentary;
2) any other relevant creative works (total length of audiovisual works max 1 hour) |
| Cinematography | 1) a short film shot by applicant – preferably feature or documentary;
2) any other relevant creative works (total length of audiovisual works max 1 hour) |
| Editing | 1) a short film edited by applicant – preferably feature or documentary;
2) any other relevant creative works (total length of audiovisual works max 1 hour) |
| Producing | 1) a short film produced by applicant – preferably feature or documentary;
2) any other relevant creative works (total length of audiovisual works max 1 hour) |
| Screenwriting | 1) a collection of screenplays (minimum of 20 pages of texts in a script format), which showcases applicant’s ability to tell compelling stories;
2) any other relevant creative works (max 20 pages in addition to point 1) |
| Film Theory | 1) your B.A. thesis in the field of Film Studies or a at least 20-page scholarly writing sample that reflects your ability to carry out sustained critical, theoretical and/or historical thinking on film, television, video and/or new media. In the absence of a moving-image-related topic, a piece of writing on a subject in the arts or humanities is acceptable;
2) a preliminary research plan for your M.A. thesis, where you describe the problem you would like to study as well as research questions and methodology for your analysis. The plan should also present a critical review of literature related to your proposed study and a brief description of your qualifications for dealing with both the content and methodology of the study; 3) two recommendation letters (ideally from former or current teachers), discussing your creative ability and potential. |
| Film and TV Art Design | 1) examples of previous artistic works, which exhibit applicant’s self expression skills in drawing, painting or other forms of art;
2) reflections on previous projects (in the field of art design), examples of independent creative activities; 3) write an essay on the following: How do you see and understand the Film and TV Artist’s profession? |
